All custom-order agar plates are started from backups, incubated under observation and transferred at least once to ensure that they are healthy, vigorous, clean and arrive in a state of active growth, ready for extensive cloning.
We do our best to begin custom orders within 1-2 business days. The whole process usually takes 3-4 weeks, though this may vary depending on the species and the phase of the moon. We'll reach out with an ETA as soon as we receive your order, we'll keep you in the loop about its progress and we'll send you a shipment notification with tracking as soon as it's ready.
Agar plates are the standard method for isolating, maintaining and breeding most microorganisms. The clear lid allows for easy viewing of the mycelium without exposing it to potential contamination. All plates are double-wrapped in Parafilm, sealed in a ziploc bag and wrapped in bubble wrap with a cold pack for safe transport.
We take great care to maintain cell lines as close as possible to their wild origins. Every batch of agar medium is lovingly prepared from scratch using high-grade agar agar and a wide variety of wholesome organic ingredients. We constantly vary recipes to keep the fungi well-fed and on their toes to prevent senescence.
